Built for Frank. Then needed by the founder.

When I Croak was founded by Jason Caras in Tampa, Florida, after the death of his friend Frank Clark left a family unable to find anything.

When I Croak started with a friend. Frank Clark — "Mr. Orange" to the people who loved him — died suddenly, and his family, scattered across different states, had no idea where anything was. Jason Caras, Frank's friend, became the family's de facto forensic accountant: hunting down policies, accounts, and contacts no one knew existed, reconstructing a financial life one phone call at a time.

He built When I Croak so no family would have to do that again. A map — not a vault — of where everything is and who to call, written for the people left behind.

Then Jason ended up in a hospital bed himself, not sure he was coming home. He opened the map he'd built for other people, thought about everything Duke didn't know — and discovered what the product was still missing. He designed the missing pieces right there. They're in the platform today.

Jason developed the platform over several years before bringing on his partners, Gary Archambault and Andrew Rowlands, whose involvement turned When I Croak from an idea into a reality. The Mr. Orange guide inside the product is named for Frank.
