The estate plan you drafted is perfect. Ask again in three years.

When I Croak for attorneys is a branded client map you gift inside an estate-planning engagement. It records where every asset and policy is and who to call — never account numbers — and puts your firm at step one of the family's First-48 Playbook.

Trusts go unfunded, beneficiaries go stale, new accounts never make it into the plan. Give every client a living map that keeps the plan you built intact, and keeps your firm at the family's first call.

A map, not a vault. We record where things are and who to call. We never store account numbers, passwords, or credentials.
Your firm holds no data. The client's relationship is with the platform. Nothing lands on your systems.
No advice, ever.Every legal, financial, or arrangement question in the app points back to you.

Signing day is when the drift begins.

You hand over a beautiful binder. Then life happens: a refinance, a new brokerage account, a 401(k) rollover, a divorce in the family. None of it makes its way back to the documents — and nobody calls the firm until something breaks.

Unfunded trusts

The most common failure of a living trust isn't the drafting. It's the assets that never got retitled, and the ones acquired after signing that never will be.

Stale beneficiaries

Retirement accounts and life insurance pass outside the will. An ex-spouse on a fifteen-year-old beneficiary form defeats the plan you drafted.

Lost accounts

Families routinely can't find policies and accounts the deceased never wrote down. Assets your plan governed on paper simply vanish in practice.

What the map does for your firm.

Clients map everything against the plan you drafted and keep it current. The map lists where each asset lives and who to call. It never stores the account numbers themselves.

The trust stays funded

When a client opens a new account or refinances, the app prompts them to fold it into the plan. The schedule stays real.

Amendments walk back in

An annual review prompt flags changes that warrant a call to your firm. Restatements and funding work arrive on their own.

You're the family's first call

When a client passes, the family opens the First-48 Playbook. Step one is your firm. You're not a name in a drawer. You're the plan.

Jason Caras
I built this after spending months reconstructing my best friend's financial life by hand. The attorney who drafted his plan never got the call. The map fixes that. One retained matter pays for the year.

Firms don't lose clients at signing. They lose them in the years between signing and the funeral, when nobody calls. The map keeps the phone ringing — and the pack costs less than one amendment.

What the partners meeting will say — and the answers.

"Fee-splitting."You buy seats and gift them. You are not paid for referrals. Any upgrade share is optional and waivable — elect the waiver and it's pure wholesale.
"UPL exposure."The product never drafts, advises, or interprets. Every legal question resolves to "ask your attorney" with your card one tap away.
"Breach liability."Your firm never holds the data, and the map contains no account numbers or credentials. There is nothing on your systems to breach.
"Staff time."Gifting a seat is a link in the closing letter. Onboarding and annual reviews are automated.

Questions attorneys ask.

Is the revenue share a fee-splitting problem?
The Seat Program is designed to avoid it: your firm purchases a service (seats) and gifts it to clients. You are not paid for referrals, and clients pay you nothing for the platform. Any revenue share applies only to a client's optional, direct purchase from us of a non-legal service — and regulated professionals can elect to waive it entirely. Rules vary by state bar; we provide a plain-language program description your ethics counsel can review.
Does the app create unauthorized-practice-of-law exposure?
No. When I Croak is an organizational tool — it doesn't draft documents, give legal advice, or interpret the plan. Everywhere a legal question could arise, the product's answer is "ask your attorney," with your firm's contact card one tap away.
Can we see what our clients record?
No — clients own their maps. You receive aggregate engagement reporting: seats activated, completion rates, annual-review activity. Never map contents.
What do our clients pay?
Nothing for the seat you gift. If a client later upgrades to the Living Map or Legacy tier, that's their direct, optional purchase from us.
